Who doesn't wish they could be relaxing poolside right now? This is a 3D recreation of the pool at the Post Oak Hotel in Houston, TX (all reference images are from here: https://www.thepostoakhotel.com/)
I took on this project to practice my realistic modeling and texturing, and to challenge myself to learn more about shaders in UE4. Creating a dynamic water shader was a lot easier than I expected, next time I recreate water in Unreal Engine I would love to try an actual water sim. This project also gave me the chance to try doing my own photogrammetry. My setup was definitely janky but I’m still happy with the results, and look forward to refining my photogrammetry setup for future environments.
It was modeled mostly in Maya with some finishing touches in zBrush, and then lit and rendered in UE4. The texturing was done in Substance Designer, Substance Painter and Photoshop, and for the foliage I used SpeedTree and photogrammetry from Substance Alchemist.
